Description: Merienda or Dessert This well known Filipino dessert was submitted by J. Francisco <mailto:franciscos4@hotmail.com?subject=I saw your recipe on PinoyCityUSA.com> of Toronto, Ontario Canada. It uses the casava root as the main ingredient; the texture of the root is similar to "gabi" or "taro." When mixed with the other ingredients and prepared as directed, you'll find that casava cake may be one of your favorite Filipino desserts. The simple browned topping of condensed milk makes the recipe one of a kind. Delicious! Ingredients: 2 pkgs casava, defrosted (frozen, grated from the Asian store) 1 can coconut milk 1 egg 1 cup sugar 1/2 can of condensed milk Directions: Mix all ingredients together, except for the condensed milk. Put mixture in a rectangular pan, and cook in a 350 degree oven for 50-60 minutes. After 45 minutes of baking, pour 1/2 can of condensed milk on top of casava cake and spread. Put back in the oven for another 20 minutes or until top has browned.
